SeungMo Park (1969, S. Korea) received his BFA in sculpture at Dong-A University and lives and works in Seoul and New York. Spending his childhood in a rural environment, he gradually turned to art as a source of amusement. During his study, he realized that his art practice was only an act to be seen- a fabrication of ego. Therefore, Park abandoned his art practice and went to India for five years to find his true self. Upon his return to Korea, Park invented exquisite methods to creating works with layers of wire mesh as well as fiberglass lifecasting wrapped with aluminum wire.
His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including Saatchi Gallery (London, UK), MAD (New York), MOCA Taipei (Taipei City), Yu-Hsui Museun of Art (Taiwan), Taipei Fine Art Museum, (Taipei City), Posco Art Museum (Seoul, Korea), Gwangju Museum of Art (Gwangju, Korea), Changwon Sculpture Biennale (Changwon, Korea), Dennos Museum (Traverse City, Michigan), Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum (University Center, Michigan), Kalamazoo Institute of Arts (Kalamazoo, Michigan) and among numerous others.
He is currently working on projects at Nike’s World Headquarters expansion located in Beaverton, Oregon and artistic collaboration with Swarovski Group in Wattens, Austria. Park is also looking forward to meeting audiences through his art during his solo exhibition opening at "Galerieverein" in Leonberg, Germany in March, 2018.
